DEAD DUCK: PART I
Dead Duck is the first narrative short film attempted by Cheesemint. Written by Matthew Stogdon, it's a retrospective take on a life in retail, using a wartime backdrop and character types from Norse mythology.

A unit of five soldiers are sent out to track and pursue a deserter by the name of Private Lock. As they make their way through the forest landscape they discuss the implications of hunting and executing one of their own. Tensions run high and cracks begin to form before the unit eventually locate their target.

Written and filmed in the downtime between the Six Shorts and Unlocked, Dead Duck was an attempt to create a film with comedic elements but a primarily serious storyline. In addition to the change of tone, an all-male cast was selected, including new faces, offering an entirely different feel to any project previously filmed.

In addition to the two part main feature [Part I / Part II], there is also the Trailer and Outtakes videos for you to enjoy.

DEAD DUCK: PART II
Filmed over two seven-hour shoots, under a blazing sun (that frequently sought cover under clouds, messing up the lighting continuity) Dead Duck was a gruelling woodland experience. The first words out of Dave Chapman's mouth on arrival was "I've got no signal! This is like the start of a horror film! Why can I hear chainsaws!?" but ultimately we got what we came for.

Sergeant Oakes / Dave Chapman
Corporal Frost / Alex Guttridge
Private Heath / Adam Gunton
Private Thorne / Matthew Stogdon
Private Taylor / Tim Maytom
Private Lock? / Charles Meigh
Colonel Sturluson / Ernesto Gonzalez
Sergeant Cutter / Debs Chapman
Corporal Weaver / Emma-Jane Corsan
Lance Cpl Spinner / Georgie Oatley

Including our cast, Debs Chapman, Georgie Oatley, Emma-Jane Corsan, Charlie Meigh and Mark Reynolds doubled as vital crew members who were on hand as-and-when their services were required.
THE UNRAVELLING
Accompanying the Dead Duck footage is a short story written by Debs Chapman entitled, The Unravelling. Set during the events in Dead Duck, this story follows a secondary unit trailing the Northmen. Offering an expansion to the story, it also explains a few random shots within the film that may feel out of place.
